Backup and Restore
Create, transfer and restore a protected copy of the Client Server state.
Create and download a local backup
- Open Backup & restore and choose Create backup. Allow for a brief service restart while SSLNexus creates a consistent snapshot.
- Wait for the local export to complete. Check its status, archive name, size and detail before downloading it.
- Store the archive in restricted, encrypted storage. Keep the backup and the unlock or encryption material required by your configuration available for recovery.
Backups contain sensitive configuration and certificate material. This workflow backs up SSLNexus state; it is not a backup of every application on the host. Never post an archive to a public ticket or repository.
Send a backup to remote recovery storage
- Select a completed backup under Backup to send.
- Choose registered deployment targets and a destination directory, or enter the external storage server connection shown by the form.
- Choose Send to selected targets or Send to external server. Review Transfer / restore activity and confirm the remote backup exists.
A successfully used directory on a registered target is remembered for future discovery. Credentials are obtained from the registered target, not stored in that location record. Use protected remote storage with access limited to recovery operators.
Discover and restore a remote backup
- Under Restore from registered targets, choose the saved backup location and select Discover backups. For external storage, enter its connection and choose Discover external backups.
- Review the discovered backup ID, date, source, archive, size and SHA-256. Confirm it is the intended installation and recovery point.
- Start the restore only when you are ready to replace current state. Review the operation result after the service restarts.
Forgetting a saved location removes the discovery reference; it does not erase the remote backup.
Restore from a local archive
- Ensure you have a usable current backup and a maintenance window. For recovery on another host, stop or fence the previous instance before activating its replacement.
- Under Restore from local archive, select the SSLNexus backup archive and choose Restore backup.
- Restore validates the archive and uses the existing pre-restore rollback snapshot. It replaces configuration and state and restarts the service.
- Sign in again if necessary. Review target connectivity, certificate inventory, renewal scheduling, licence status and keystore status.
If restore reports a failure, read the exact operation result before retrying. See restore errors, restored file permissions and local keystore recovery.
